SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE IN EL VISO

SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE IN EL VISO

Located in an almost a triangular plot, very small, the house is closed to the streets Balbina Valverde and Paseo de la Habana; which is North orientation, the ten-storey houses in the other side of the streets seem everywhere, the traffic is very intense and noisy. All rooms face south (SE and SW), the silence, the garden and El Viso.

On the north side (Balbina Valverde and Paseo de la Habana) only the stairs run from the basement climbing up to the garden located on the roof. These stairs are treated as an almost outer space: the inner wall of this space is the same material as the facade. If outside they are limited with a dark gray metalwork, to the inside they are separated from the rest of the house by another glass, this time with woodwork. Furthermore, this space serves as a temperature control buffer; in summer the opening of the windows in the top becomes a refreshing air flow.

We looked after a clarity in volumes and in the holes, as a sculptural answer of a strange scale, to the border situation between El Viso and the extremely intrusive high-rise housing overlooking the Paseo de la Habana.
